The demographics of politics is about to change.
Yuppies, and Young Techno Uppies, are about to learn a harsh lesson.
The world of the past 25 years is in the process of closing a chapter in World History. The good times, of easy living, fat profits, and soft falls is over.
No longer will we be entitled to automatic financial successes. The “Good Life”, will become a much more modest goal, and will once again require hard work and skill to be achieved.
Being able to put food on the table, and to keep our homes tolerably warm are soon to be goals that are far from automatic.
I’m sorry to say, I see a time this Winter when hard choices between food, warmth, or a hot shower will become a difficult decision.
I fear for my fellow citizens. Life is about to become more difficult, and most people under 45 have never experienced this type of reality.
Politics is about to face a big dose of very cold reality:
Your oil tank usually holds at least 275 gallons of heating oil. At current prices approaching $5.00 / gallon, you will be looking at $1375.00 to fill your tank, which during the Winter usually occurs every 4-6 weeks.
This is a very sobering number.
The heck with the Ideaology of the Right and Left. How about the practicality of survival, and keeping warm.
