We are the Angry old Men, Hear US ROAR, a poem by Charlie Champion

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

We are the angry old men

Hear us roar.

We are a lot smarter than we used to be.

Reality ,

Has forced us to learn the score.

Our bodies have gotten older

Sadly, thats no lie.

But we still have a great deal to accomplish

Before we are ready to die.

As a group we are highly adaptable..

We’ ve survived conflicts and war

Massive global upheavals

As well as social changes galore.

We’ ve seen economic boom

And we’ ve suffered economic gloom.

Our diversity has grown into a powerful steed

Our system has given us the freedom to succeed

There has always been one truth that is a constant through and through

Your skin color is irrelevant,

As long as you’re red, white, and blue.

What is an economic bubble

Friday, October 24th, 2008

An economic bubble by definition is something that is filled with hot air.

When you prick a bubble with a pin, the hot air escapes, and you are left with a flattened, lifeless pancake.

Welcome to our new economy.

The Pancake Recession.

Not too much syrup. now.

Evolution and Creationism are not necessarily, mutually exclusive concepts

Evolution and Creationism are not necessarily mutually exclusive  concepts

                                              by

Charlie Champion   The fact that billions of years of evolution have created this world that we live on, does not negate or even slightly derail the fact that G-d does exist. Evolution and creation are not mutually exclusive, in fact they are highly compatible.  G-d in his infinite wisdom, and in His eternal struggle with the evil one, initiated  evolution , so that  a Universe and a planet Earth would evolve and populate with living things, G-d initiated Creation, ….the Miracle of Creation and the beautiful symmetry of the  evolution of life  proves His existence…. Because my body might have evolved from lower animals actually makes sense.  What makes noSense, is to tie the essence of Mankind and our souls , to being intertwined  with that animal existence. Our animal evolved/ human bodies are vessels for the soul that G-d created.  We are all involved in an eternal battle between Good and evil. The planet earth and mankind are all either warriors for Good, warriors for the dark one, or neutral s in training.

Stagflation, 1970’s and 2008, What good can come from bad.

Friday, October 10th, 2008

The last real recession we experienced in this country took place in the mid late 70’s, and continued into the beginning of the Regan years.

Inflation topped 14 percentand unemployment was between 6 and 10 percent depending upon location.

The cost of food and fuel were increasing dramatically, and shortages created additional upward pressure on prices.

Disco dancing, mood rings, and bell bottom pants were part of our landscape, and  the end of the Viet Nam War, and the election of Jimmy Carter as President were significant political events.

Thinking back on those days, I don’t remember the sacrifice or pain , in fact I seem to remember those days with a mixture of pride, humor and nostalgia.

Most people couldn’t afford new cars, so we drove used cars, and paid for things as we bought them.

Those of us who used credit cards, had maybe one or two cards, and usually saved them for emergencies.

We rented apartments, or rented  houses if we couldn’t afford the down payment to purchase.

Cell phones and the internet did not exist, and gym memberships were usually to the Y M C A , at a token cost.

Recessions are obviously painful events, but there are some positive things that can develop, Sort of a silver lining to a dark cloud.

10 blessings hidden in a recession.

1. We save money by eating at home. Family dinners mean family bonding, better balanced meals, fewer drugs, and better mental health for the next generation of Americans.

2. We are driving less, driving down the cost of gasoline due to less demand.

3 Less telemarketing and junk mail. Junk e mail is easier to delete, and doesn’t cause pollution and waste trees for paper.

4. More use of coupons as people try to stretch their dollars.

5. Switching to less costly exercise plans.Forget the gym, how about the school yard, or a school gym.

6. Smaller less expensive automobiles and trucks, with much better gas mileage.

7. Many new opportunities to create new businesses. ” When a door closes, a window opens.”

8. Bring back the Victory garden. Gardening is health outdoor work, and fresh fruits and veggies are healthy for you.

9. Bad times create inspiration for literature and music.(see “The Blues” )

10. Rough economic times makes people look at the world from a different perspective. Spoiled is out, appreciation for what you have is good.

Ready or not, here it comes   1 …   2  …   3  …

Talk about a great disguise, lipstick on a pig

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

This great bailout bill passed by the Senate last night is no longer $700 billion, it has grown in 2 days to an $810 billion bailout bill.

The extra $110 billion is Pork, disguised pork, but pork non the less.

Lipstick by any other name stinks just as badly.

How can these politicians be so blind or crass, that instead of tightening the bill, they add more layers of pork entitlements , to cajole Congress to pass a stinker?

$810 billion and counting.

All of this so Bush can leave office with calming waters.

What is going to happen to  all that money in 2 months, when a new President takes over, and puts new Chairmen into power to oversee and dispense this money?

What indeed.

I guess I chose the wrong profession.

I should have been a politician,  or possibly a white collar thief.

What are those distressed assets we are buying?

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

What are those distressed assets we will be buying?

What are the failed mortgages that have precipitated this crisis?

The affirmative action, social engineering  dictates of the mid 90’s have resulted in low income families, buying houses they could not afford.  Of course they were the first to fail when house values dropped.

Where are these low income houses located?

In low income or lower middle class , or working class neighborhoods.

As these houses go into forclosure, people stop repairing the houses,  and eventually abandon the houses, resulting in vast neighborhoods of empty houses.

Which fall into disrepair, and eventually become crack houses, or flop houses, until they collapse into rubble.

These are the distressed assets we are buying from the banks, so they can escape losse.

What??????????

Can I buy a huge wild speculative something, have the government bail me out, and continue buying new ones, until I get lucky, tghen screw the taxpayers by stealing everything I can get my hands on…………

WOW, My Turn!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The health benefits of dog ownership

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Sure they provide you with unconditional love. In some cases it may be the only love you recieve, and you get it whether you deserve it or not.

There are additional benefits. The physical advantages can be enormous if approached correctly. The mental and spiritual are less obvious, but potentially just as valuable.

I am in the process of developing and documenting the ” There Has to be a Better way.com ” program which I have personally applied to loosing the 25 pounds I put on when I quit smoking(cold turkey, by the way) .

The weight is gone, and has stayed gone for almost 2 years. I’m in great shape, and can keep up with my 26 year old 6′4″ son on the basketball court, despite being over 60 years old.

Want to know how I did it. and also how I quit smoking  after 30+ years of a 2  pack  a day habit?  If you’re good maybe I’ll tell you.

Just be patient with me.  I still have a full time job running my stone business, so writing time has to be stolen from other activities, like walking Matilda, the puppy.

I will enlighten you about my very unique original methods. I know I can teach you how to utilize my program.

Oh by the way, if you could arrange to stop all these economic and geopolitical distractions , I would have more time to teach you how to get healthy.

     Stay tuned

Dogs are good for your health-Just an observation

Just an Observation-

All Dogs are healthy, but some dogs are healthier than others.

I’ve had a dog as my Pal for most of my life, so I am very familiar with their traits. Like the fun of romping with a puppy,or  playing catch with a  frisbee. And how about the walks,  usually at least twice a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year , rain or shine, hot or very very cold.

There is a great deal of joy and unconditional love that comes with owning a dog, and also a great deal of responsibility, and as we all know, there are some hastles, and  obligations.

However; I have discovered an additional benefit a dog can bring to your life. Health and longer life, for master and dog,,  If you know where to look .

Seeing the Beauty in Nature Helps Define the Soul of Man

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

by                                                        Kief Lewis                                                    Press Secretary                                                                   for                                                  Charlie Champion

Ever since the day when the first primitive Human ancestor stood up on two legs and surveyed  the world which would one day belong to His descendants,  Man has been struggling to control  his  environment.

Nature has ever been a source of conflict and danger.

Competition with other animals for  food was the key to avoiding extinction.  To eat and not be eaten, has always been a primary rule for survival.           Becoming a skilled hunter was important.      Developing the skills to avoid becoming the prey was a good idea. Life is much easier if you  live at the top of the food chain.          Humanity learned to insulate itself from some of the ravages of nature. Animal skins, and other  types of clothing. helped Man to adapt to more extremes of nature.            The Human Animal has always been inventive, utilizing the bounty of Nature to elevate Himself  over other competing species. Caves and trees as safe havens for shelter.  Bodies of water as  boundry’s and barriers for protection, as well as a means of transportation..     Sticks and rocks made effective weapons in the hands of an upright biped with a moveable  thumb      .With the evolution of expanding brain capacity, Humanity became the dominant species  on the Planet and was able to excert more and more control of  His environment.           As his consciousness grew, Man began to develop an awareness of himself as an individual  entity in relationship  to his peers as well as to the natural environment which was his home.

How to loose weight

How to quit smoking

How to exercise without realizing that you are working out

I know, I know, this is somewhat of a radical departure from a political and economic oriented “ know it all”, but I’m not just another pretty frog.

I am a pretty fair creative writer, and also a confirmed neurotic who has studied several original methods of controlling the human body
